Open to high school juniors and seniors (and advanced sophomores), the Summer Research Experience in Physics is an intensive six-week summer research program beginning in mid-June.

If you’re selected, you’ll be paired with a faculty mentor and participate in a cutting-edge research project in the IUPUI Department of Physics. At the end of the program, you must complete a written research report and deliver a presentation to physics faculty and fellow students.

This is a competitive program sponsored by the Department of Physics at IUPUI and by the Scientech Club Foundation. Students will be chosen based on a merit review. There is no registration/fee for this program.

Open to all students. Students demonstrating financial need may qualify for a stipend. Applications are due April 1 annually.

Applications are accepted for the Physics Summer Research Program at IUPUI until April 1st, 2023.  Positions will be filled based on a merit review. Preference will be given to current High School juniors and seniors, but exceptional sophomores will also be considered.

Duration: six weeks starting early-June.

Application: a cover letter and an essay.

The cover letter should include:
1. Name, school, academic status, contact address including email
2. GPA, science grades, and research experience if any
3. Contact information for your science teachers willing to recommend you for the program. Please talk to your teachers first.

The essay should be of one or two pages in length and should describe your interest in physics and in science in general. Specify three research topics and mentors from the Department of Physics website.
