Each summer, approximately 100 students are paired with a scientist mentor in an academic or industry laboratory to conduct research in labs across the IUI campus, PUI campus, the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute (IBRI), and Eli Lilly and Company.
Over the course of 8 weeks, students engage in hands- on, real-life biomedical research with their mentors and benefit from professional development opportunities. Students also engage in career exploration and learn skills such as professionalism and science communication.
To provide sustained STEM research, learning, and growth opportunities for high school students with diverse identities and socioeconomic backgrounds, eligible students also receive a financial stipend ($4,000) to help remove barriers to participation in the program.
