Upward Bound is the oldest and largest, free federally funded college preparatory program for low income and first-generation high school students.

Students are supported through a broad range of resources and events including weekly tutoring, career exploration panels, SAT/ ACT preparation, scholarship workshops, cultural events, college trips and tours, and other various academic and personal enrichment.

During Upward Bound's 6-week Summer Academy, students live in IUI's residence halls and experience a semblance of campus life while preparing for the next year in high school. This does mean that for upperclassmen, they can take a college level class for college credit.
